M-1956 SLK Norwegian Bayonet – Modified Model 1894
Offered here is a rare and historically significant M-1956 SLK Norwegian Bayonet, originally produced as a Model 1894 under German occupation during World War II. Following the war, Norway undertook a large-scale conversion of approximately 30,000 of these bayonets for use with the Selvladekarabin (U.S. M1 Carbine), which was supplied to Norway under the U.S. Military Assistance Program between 1950 and 1963 (totaling 98,267 M1 and M2 Carbines).
This bayonet was converted in 1956 at Hærens Våpentekniske Korps (Army Weapons Technical Corps) and is part of that unique Cold War-era rearmament effort. The blade retains the “K” marking, a remnant of its wartime manufacture, though all other markings have since worn off with age and use.
The scabbard, while bearing signs of overpainting, still features a visible serial number, adding to its authenticity and collectible appeal. This bayonet represents a fascinating intersection of WWII legacy and Cold War adaptation — a must-have for any serious military collector.
