Civil War CDV of Union Soldier Legrand Snyder – 146th Illinois Infantry

$50.00

This original Civil War carte de visite (CDV) features Union soldier Legrand Snyder of Bloomington, Illinois. Snyder enlisted as a Private on September 1, 1864, and mustered into Company G of the 146th Illinois Infantry the same day. He served faithfully until his discharge on June 12, 1865.

Service of the 146th Illinois Infantry

The 146th Illinois Infantry was organized at Camp Butler, Illinois, and mustered into Federal service on September 18, 1864, for a one-year enlistment. The regiment was assigned to garrison duty in Illinois, guarding drafted men and substitutes at various locations, including Camp Butler, Brighton, Quincy, and Jacksonville. The regiment did not participate in any major battles during its service. It was mustered out of service on July 5, 1865.

This CDV offers a personal connection to a soldier who served during the final year of the Civil War. A compelling piece of Civil War history, it would make a great addition to any Civil War or Illinois military collection.
