Charles Magnus Collector Trading Card – General Benjamin McCulloch (ca. 1860s)

$40.00

Own a rare piece of Civil War history with this striking Charles Magnus Collector Trading Card featuring General Benjamin McCulloch of the Confederate Army. Produced by the celebrated New York lithographer Charles Magnus (1826–1900), each undated card—circa 1860s—measures approximately 2.5" x 3.75". The bust-length, black-and-white portrait of General McCulloch is encased in an ornate red frame, with his name elegantly displayed in a cartouche at the bottom. There is a typo on this card as the name is printed as McCoulough at the bottom.

About General Benjamin McCulloch:
Benjamin McCulloch (1811–1862) was a prominent Confederate general and Texas legend, known for his daring frontier exploits and leadership in the early years of the Civil War. A veteran of the Texas Revolution and the Mexican-American War, McCulloch was also a U.S. Marshal and skilled scout with close ties to figures like Davy Crockett and Sam Houston. When the Civil War began, he was appointed brigadier general and placed in command of Confederate forces in Arkansas and Missouri. He played a key role in the Confederate victory at the Battle of Wilson’s Creek in 1861. Tragically, McCulloch was killed in action at the Battle of Pea Ridge in 1862, becoming one of the first high-ranking Confederate officers to die in the war. His bravery and frontier spirit made him a celebrated, if short-lived, Confederate hero.
