William A. Moore “Skirmish at Batchelders Creek”

$120.00

There are 2 letters in this collection both written by William to his sister.

The first on written in 1862 talks about who is in what regiment/company out of their hometown.

The second letter written in 1864 describes an attack on Batchelder’s Creek and over exaggerates the casualties from the battle. In this area of North Carolina, there had been a lot of skirmishes back and forth.

Throughout his Civil War military career, William would be promoted from a private to a sergeant. This is a neat collection that shows both the calm and chaotic times in the war.
