About General M.L. Bonham:
M.L. Bonham (1813–1890) was a Confederate general and politician from South Carolina, known for his early involvement in the Southern cause during the Civil War. Before the conflict, Bonham had served in the South Carolina state legislature and had been an influential figure in the state's secessionist movement. When the war broke out, he quickly became a brigadier general in the Confederate Army. Bonham is best known for his role in the Battle of Bull Run, where he commanded a brigade. Although his military career was marked by a series of less significant engagements, his leadership in the early stages of the war was vital to the Confederacy. After the war, Bonham returned to South Carolina, where he continued his political career. He remains a symbol of Southern leadership during a turbulent time in American history.
