About General Henry Henningsen:
Henry Henningsen (1815–1887) was a Confederate general and a veteran of both the American and European military campaigns. Born in Denmark, Henningsen joined the U.S. Army before moving to the South, where he became an active participant in the Confederate cause during the Civil War. A skilled military strategist and a charismatic leader, he was involved in several notable engagements, including the Battle of Bull Run and the defense of Richmond. Henningsen was particularly known for his expertise in cavalry tactics and was praised for his role in organizing guerilla warfare in Virginia. After the war, he settled in the South and became involved in local politics. His legacy remains one of a dedicated, if somewhat unconventional, officer in the Confederate military.
