Authentic Civil War era U.S. oval waist belt plate, recovered in the Cartersville, Georgia area, a region heavily occupied during the 1864 Atlanta Campaign.
This plate features the classic bold block “US” lettering on the face, a standard Union enlisted man’s waist belt plate widely issued throughout the war. The brass face shows strong letter definition with natural patina and areas of verdigris consistent with long-term burial.
The reverse retains all three original arrow hooks intact, along with the belt stud slot. The lead fill remains solid with typical soil staining and oxidation from ground recovery. Central iron components show expected corrosion but remain stable.
