War of 1812 Script “I” Infantry Button & Military Button – Sackets Harbor Battlefield Relics

$65.00

Offered is a historic grouping of two original War of 1812-era military uniform buttons, reportedly recovered from the waters off the Sackets Harbor battlefield in New York.

The smaller button features a script “I” design, associated with early American infantry uniforms. The larger companion button retains a heavily worn face, with its original design largely obscured by age and corrosion.

Sackets Harbor was a strategically important American military and naval installation on Lake Ontario during the War of 1812. On May 29, 1813, American defenders repelled a British assault during the Second Battle of Sackets Harbor.

Both buttons are mounted on a red background within a black display frame, accompanied by an illustration of period American infantrymen firing muskets.

The original display inscription reads:

“Army uniform buttons recovered in the water off of Sacket Harbor Battlefield.”

The grouping retains its original display presentation and battlefield recovery attribution, making it an appealing piece of early American military history.

Condition: Both buttons exhibit oxidation, surface wear, and patina consistent with recovered relics. The smaller script “I” Infantry button retains recognizable design details, while the larger button is heavily worn. The framed display shows minor age-related wear. Please examine all photographs carefully.

An interesting War of 1812 battlefield-associated grouping, particularly desirable for collectors of early American infantry buttons, military relics, and Sackets Harbor history.

Shipping included to the lower 48 contiguous United States.
