Offered is an outstanding original WWII-era printing plate advertising the Sixth War Loan Drive of 1944, produced for The New Jersey Zinc Company.
The large plate features American servicemen working aboard an aircraft carrier beneath the bold headline:
“A LITTLE MORE PUSH IS NEEDED!”
The advertisement encourages Americans on the home front to support the war effort by purchasing additional War Bonds and Stamps. The lower portion references the Sixth War Loan Drive and its $14 billion goal, firmly placing the advertisement in the closing years of World War II.
Unlike the finished paper advertisements that survive today, this is the actual reversed printing plate used to reproduce the advertisement. The lettering and image appear backward on the plate so that they would print correctly when inked and transferred to paper.
The plate retains its substantial original wooden mounting/block and displays a detailed halftone image of U.S. servicemen and an aircraft aboard a carrier.
