This letter was written in 1865 after he had become a hospital steward in Alexandria, VA.

According to his obituary he had been wounded twice during the Civil War. One of those times was at Chancellorsville.

After the war, he became a Reverend and even opened a school up in Beaumont, Pennsylvania. Even with this being a late war letter, Charles Canfield’s history will make a cool addition to any collection.
